Suicide: Murder of soul or life? This article is written in the wake of recent suicide of sushant Singh Rajput which surprised the whole nation.

Isn’t a matter of happiness, today we are living in the 21st century? Today in terms of technology, we are touching the sky high. Even Mission Mars and Mission Chandrayaan are not untouched by us. We have already gone to the moon, now we are moving towards the other planets too.  Overall, we have made ourselves capable of touching the highest peak of progress. Then why India, our country which reached Mars first; where Ayurveda was born, where people still worship their culture, their tradition, why today the youth of their own motherland are being forced to kill themselves?

Suicide Rate in India

According to the latest report of the World Health Organization, the South-East Asian region has the highest suicide rate in India. Yes, the people of our country are at the forefront of ending their lives in their own hands. The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report has made many shocking revelations related to suicide. According to the NCRB report, in the year 2018, the number of suicides due to unemployment has also overtaken farmer suicides. According to NCRB report, in the year 2018, more unemployed than farmers have committed suicide. In 2018, 12,936 people committed suicide due to unemployment. If we look at the statistics of farmer suicides in 2019, 10,349 farmers committed suicide.

National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), an organization under the Ministry of Home Affairs, recently presented statistics related to crime which are quite surprising. According to the National Crime Records Bureau report, suicide cases in the country increased by 3.6 percent in 2018. According to the data, in the year 2018, 1 lakh 34 thousand 516 cases of suicide were registered, while in 2017, 1 lakh 29 thousand 887 people committed suicide. If we look at the statistics of the year 2017, 12 thousand 241 people, suffering from unemployment, had committed suicide, while 10, 655 people troubled by losses in agriculture had embraced the death. There has been a decrease in the number of farmers’ deaths in 2017 as compared to 2016. In 2016, 11 thousand 379 farmers and agricultural laborers gave their lives.

According to data compiled by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), one student commits suicide every hour in India, with around 28 suicides every day. NCRB data shows that 10,159 students committed suicide in 2018, 9,905 in 2017 and 9,478 students committed suicide in 2016. Director of Institute of Psychiatry, Kolkata, Pradeep Kumar Saha said, “Fear of failure is a major cause of suicide among students. When students go through the failure phase, they find everything pessimistic. They feel that their future is bleak. And this can result in suicide. “

These are the only figures which are recorded in the official form. It would not be an exaggeration to say here that more suicides may not be visible in the law. Or perhaps the family members of the suicides do not want to have any investigation and spread the news in the society. Many people even call the suicide as a disease. Or, in a clear word, a heart attack was done, by saying something like this; we end the matter then and there. Why don’t we understand that, why does such a moment come that the thought of ending our life is generated in the mind? Have you thought that we are living the life we get from our parents; you all believe it, don’t you? Then before finishing the same life, is it not permissible to think about them even once? When a person dies in an accident or due to illness, then we say, God bless his soul! And the person who commits suicide, will his or her soul get peace? The person who did not get peace while living, after finishing life, what is the guarantee that he or she will get peace? There are many such questions, and now it is high time we have to find their answers.

According to Sweetie Mishra, faculty of Galgotia College, “As a parent and teacher, the most important thing is that we support our children. It is not to impose our wishes on them, rather to give their wishes and their dreams a way of achievement. Every child is known with a different identity. Our duty is to bring out the creativity inside them. The most important fact, in today’s scenario of competitive phase, everyone has to get ahead. Do not let their dreams run away in this chaos. Do not compare your children to others. “He got such good marks, why don’t you”? Such questions can put children mentally weak and in pressure. Talk to your children. Try to read their mind. “

Such a moment comes in everyone’s life, when only and only despair and darkness are visible from all around. There are also many of our companions who want to climb the ladder, but do not step forward for fear of falling. In such a situation, you remember those moments when you start walking with the help of little feet. Then our parents taught us to walk. We fell; we also get injuries, but still our elderly hold our fingers and teach us to walk.
Why do we give up when they don’t give up? They always stand with us when we need them. Give us support and when the time comes that we become their sticks and beholder and support them, we end our life. We begin to climb the steps of progress, but we take along stress and depression with us together.

This fear dissolves in the mind, that no one can get ahead of us or someone will push us and fall and do not let us move forward. Actually our mind and heart gets trapped in such a dilemma that in the end we couldn’t emerge from it and give up our life. And then resort to crime like suicide.
People who have thoughts of suicide do not think of any other solution. At that time, death becomes their world and forgets everything back and forth. The idea of suicide becomes so strong in them that they do not understand anything. They are real, strong and immediate and have no miraculous solution.

But it is also true that:

We have imprisoned ourselves. You all are aware of this, that in our culture, the practice of joint family has been there from the beginning. But now we have started feeling the same family burden. We have moved towards single family. We do not have time for loved ones. In such a situation, we are unable to share our thoughts with anyone and become mentally alone. Suicide is often a permanent solution to a temporary problem. When we are depressed, we see things in the narrow perspective of the present moment. After a week or a month, the same things may look different. Many such people also wish to survive some time after they think of committing suicide. They say they don’t want to die – they only want to kill the fear and pain inside them. In such a situation, we have to help them.
Taking a glance of the present time, due to Corona global pandemic, only physical distances have come between us, we are all, still with each other through our heart and soul. And today, through science and technology, we can talk to our loved ones even beyond the seven seas. Before taking any wrong step, at once think about the people whose life you are. Your breath is the support of someone’s life. Talking about the Corona era, many people committed suicide because they lost their jobs, thinking of how to take care of their family and embraced death as if it was their family. To what extent is this meaningful? Why don’t we share our difficulties with our loved ones? Talk to your family or friends. You can get a lot of relief by talking to a member of your family or a friend or even a colleague. Before thinking of suicide, think once, whom you are killing? Yours or theirs, whose life are you ….!
